Death

Death

Just what if the present life we are living is a dream? And the life after transition is the reality? Just what if the ones on the other side of the veil are weeping for us? Because they finally realize that the life before transition was a cage. And that death is the opening of that cage.

I want to believe it is not just me. As much as eating, drinking, and even sex are pleasurable, there are times when they all feel like a drag. Like, I just want to be free from the laws of biology, the laws of physics, the laws of marketing, and even the laws of society. These laws sometimes feel like a huge drag. I want to believe that at the core of our being, we all feel this.

“Death is gotta be easy, ‘cos life is hard.” – 50 Cent

But there is a misconception of death that has continued for far too long. Contrary to popular belief, death is a beautiful thing. Death is the flower of life. Without death, life cannot be truly understood and appreciated. This is not trying to make a contrast like without darkness light cannot be appreciated. No, this is saying that death is the doorway between the mansions of life. In other words, death is not the opposite of life. It is just a doorway for the continuation of life. Death enables us to see that most of the things we cling to are just illusions. The most beautiful thing about death is that it finally reveals our true identity.

The only people scared of death are those who do not know who they are. This is why “Observation” is very important. Others might call it meditation but for the sake of this skull session, I will call it observation. It hits closer to home. When meditation is sometimes mentioned, people are confused. But observation, observation leaves no room for confusion. Observation is the art of witnessing. And that is all what meditation is about. And why is this important, it’s important because through observation, we finally realize that the witness observing the events of life is eternal. I went at length in my skull session “Observation” to define this witness. This Witness is the presence between two thoughts. It is the gap between two breaths, it is the silence between sounds. This silence is not the absence of sound as we know it through physics. No, this silence is the fullness of presence. This presence or space or void is the womb from which creation came into existence. This is man’s true identity. In that gap or space, man is neither a male nor a female, neither greek nor jew, neither old nor young and neither is that space born nor dies. But the tragedy of humanity is that after birth, we are given a name, a religion, a nationality or tribe. In most cases it is enforced upon us. And then the tragedy is that we spend the rest of our existence defending what we did not choose. Now this witness who sees everything, the thoughts, the emotions, the anger, the feelings must by its very nature be light. For without light, the eyes cannot see. So when we hear Avatars of truth saying, “we are the light of the world”, that is not a metaphorical statement. It is a scientific fact. It is an existential fact. It has nothing to do with religion. We are literally light beings.

Again, if we have come this far, if we have come to realize that we are the space between two thoughts, the gap between two breaths or two heartbeats, the sky that holds everything together, another truth rises to the surface. And it is this, just as nothing can harm space, just as no amount of dark clouds or storm can stain the sky, one’s true being is ever free from sin. No amount of the so-called sin can stain one’s true being. There is only one sin and it is ignorance. Or in the mystical sense, unconsciousness. But unconsciousness or ignorance is not a sin. It is only the absence of light. And just as darkness which is nothing but the absence of light cannot be punished because it is not a thing, because it has no substance,  man cannot be punished for being unconscious. At least, not by God. God is too busy loving and creating that IT has no time to keep scores. God is not a business man keeping a ledger of those who are good and those who are bad.

Just as the only sin is ignorance or unconsciousness, the only virtue is awareness or consciousness. Consciousness, just like silence, pervades the whole universe. And when you realize that the same consciousness that breathes in you is the same consciousness that breathes in the animals, trees, rivers, rocks and mankind, how can one truly hate his fellow neighbour? The idea of hate drops just like leaves in Autumn. It is this kind of consciousness that makes one turn a new leaf. For if the earth is also me, why should I harm the earth? If my brother is also me, why should I kill him? The last time I was in Nigeria, as much as I had a good time, I couldn’t help but notice how people are unconscious of the environment. It was a painful sight to see people driving and throwing plastic bottles out the window. But the earth is our home and if we do not take care of it, no one will. Matter of fact, the earth is the foundation of paradise. Most think that after death, they will go to heaven. What a huge shock awaiting them. We often take our health for granted. We forget too easily that good health is a dimension of heaven. And good health starts with taking care of the earth. So the only salvation man needs is awareness. Just like the Alchemists of old who turned base metals into gold, awareness (observation) when put into practice, turns one from the base metal of unconsciousness into the gold of godliness.

But when we live from this silence, we realize that in this silence there is no discrimination. In this silence, there is fullness of joy. Love blooms naturally. In this silence, there is no competition. There is no division. This silence does not say to the other silence, “I am more silent than you are.” In silence we realize that we are one with existence. This silence and the space in the universe are one and the same. And if we observe more closely, we discover that even in this silence, a melody is playing in the background. Philosophers who have come close to this have called it “The Music of the Spheres”.

This is the beauty of death. It shows us once and for all that we are one with existence. This can be known if we observe. We don’t have to wait till death. So death and life are not opposites, they are just rooms in the same house. Your consciousness is that house. Now, for those of us who have experienced that other room, we know full well that it is much better than the life experienced in the 3rd dimension. In the 4th dimension, the dimension after transition, one is not subject to the laws of physics as we have in the 3rd dimension. Movement is more fluid compared to the mechanical movement in the 3rd dimension. Matter of fact, with the power of imagination, one can move from place to place. Sound is more refined. Music in the 4th dimension cannot be compared to what we have in the third dimension. Colours are more vivid and luminous. Thank goodness for dreams. It gives us a glimpse into the 4th dimension. This can be readily seen too if the practice of observation is carried into sleep. The dreams in this kind of sleep become lucid. In the same way, when the practice of observation is carried into the hour of death, (for those lucky enough to experience their hour of death), death becomes just like sleep. Like in lucid dreams where one is conscious and steers his dream how he wants, in death or transition, one is conscious to steer his vehicle of consciousness wherever he wants. One can either choose to come back to earth which is known as reincarnation or continue to explore other mansions of life.

In conclusion, rather than be sad for those who have transited, we should actually be happy for them. They have a better deal of the cards than those on the 3rd dimension.

In order for the experience of death to be enjoyed, the ‘Ego’ needs to dissolve. The Ego is nothing but the accumulation of false identities. It is the Ego that says, I am a Nigerian, I am a Pastor, I am a Banker, I am a father, I am God etc. The tighter we cling to these false identities, the more painful death becomes. But death is not supposed to be painful. It is supposed to be a beautiful experience. Like pointed out earlier on, it is the flower of life.

Divinity is what blooms when the Ego is discarded. The lesson of the sky is once more needed again. The sky does not say, “Ah! You are a beautiful cloud, I won’t let you go.” No, the sky knowing what it is, allows these clouds to come and go whether beautiful or not. Likewise, just like the sky, we have to let go of the clouds of false identities. Only then, can we see death for what it is. That it is nothing but an illusion.
